The data consists of historical data for all companies within QQQ, which tracks the Nasdaq 100 index, spanning from 2004 to 2023. The package includes a spreadsheet (in XLSX format) containing data for each year, along with individual CSV files for each year. Each year's dataset includes columns for company names, values inside the fund, and number of shares inside the fund.

What you can use this data for:

  1. Portfolio backtesting
  2. Analysis of trends in the Nasdaq

Why I created this:

I created this dataset because I wanted to conduct backtesting on some of the top companies in QQQ. However, I found it very difficult to obtain this data after numerous attempts at searching and data cleansing. Finally, I have a dataset that I can work with.

Note:

  • All valuations and number of shares were recorded on September 30 of each specific year.
  • QQQ, also known as the Nasdaq 100, consists of the top 100 companies in the Nasdaq index. Occasionally, it may have more than 100 listings due to some companies having multiple classes of shares listed.
  • The data currently spans from 2004 to 2023.
